When organizing a storage unit to get ready for an estate sale or just purging to make room for other items, follow these steps:
Remove all items except heavy furniture which should be pushed to the back of the unit or positioned around the walls
Unpack all boxes, bins, suitcases, etc
Make use of tables, if available, to display all unpacked glassware, silver, linens, and other displayable items
Similar items should be grouped together and arranged in a way so that the estate company can easily assess what is in the unit
Personal paperwork, artwork, photographs, etc. should be put into small to large bins so that the owner can determine what will be kept, donated, or destroyed
